Interview: 1st place winners Chelsea's Champions talk the Pull for Epilepsy
Chelsea’s Champions is a team created by Courtney Tobin. Courtney lives with the effects of epilepsy every day and is committed to raising awareness of the impact on the lives of the other 300,000 Canadians living with epilepsy. Courtney’s motivation is in memory of her sister, Chelsea. Chelsea also lived with epilepsy and tragically died of Sudden Unexpected Death with Epilepsy (SUDEP) at age 23, on the day she was to receive her Masters Degree. Courtney has gathered a group of hers and Chelsea’s friends to participate in the fire truck pull as a fun way to raise funds and awareness for epilepsy. Sadly, the epilepsy support organization receives no government funding so every dollar allows them to provide assistance to those living with epilepsy.Chelsea's Champions took home the prestigious winning trophy in 2022, and they did it again this year too! Will they make it a 3-year streak? Courtney and her mom, Wendy, joined Monica & Jesse on the Fresh Morning Show to share their story.
Canadian Blood Services: Jess Talks to Sgt. Koopman
Jess Williams from middays on 104.3 Fresh Radio was on site for the latest Canadian Blood Services drive to help fill much needed donor appointments. She caught up with Sgt. Koopman to chat about his over 100 blood donations and the Kingston Police partnership with Canadian Blood Services.
Thomas & Friends Introduces Bruno the Brake Car
Bruno the Brake Car is being introduced as part of the Thomas & Friends franchise as the first autistic character. With this big news, Monica & Jesse are chatting with Daniel Share-Strom, one of the writers and creators of the monumental new character, and a spokesperson on behalf of Mattel. On top of being a creative consultant and writer for Bruno the Brake Car, Daniel Share-Strom is a Registered Social Worker who has dedicated much of his career to motivational speaking for the betterment of individuals on the Autism Spectrum. A Woman Is Spending $4,000 to Go to Hawaii to Scatter the Ashes of Her... Hamster
It's always upsetting to lose a pet, and some people choose to honor the pet with a proper burial . . . you know, within reason.A woman in the U.K. named Lisa Murray-Lang is dropping $4,000 on a trip to Hawaii to scatter the ashes of . . . her pet hamster, Spud. (???) Spud had no real connection to Hawaii . . . he'd never left his home, actually.But during the Covid lockdowns, Lisa built little "sets" for Spud to explore that resembled different places around the world. And one of them was Hawaii.Lisa says, "The Hawaii set was always Spud's favorite . . . he loved the sand . . . it's the perfect send-off . . . he'll finally get to come along on a real holiday."As for the ceremony, she's going to take his ashes down to the beach . . . play Beyoncé's song "I Was Here" . . . scatter his ashes . . . and leave a message in the sand saying "Spud visited."
Solider On's 'Conquer the Rideau Bon Voyage Ceremony' joins the Fresh Morning Show
A Canadian Armed Forces program supporting military members to overcome their mental/physical illness/injury through sport and other activities.Soldier On is a Canadian Armed Forces program created in 2006 with the aim of providing opportunities for serving and former Canadian Armed Forces members with a mental or physical injury or illness to participate in physical, recreational or sporting activities. It supports these personnel in increasing their independence, in developing new skills, in achieving goals and opening the door to other life opportunities. It furnishes an opportunity for them to socialize and explore common interests, and share learning experiences. Many ill/injured members credit Soldier On with helping them to move forward in life with a positive outlook.

The Venus Family Toy Box Bottle Drive
This summer the Venus boys decided to begin collecting, sorting and returning alcoholic empties. They decided with the money they got from all the returns, they would be presents for the less fortunate children in December!
