Born in the USA in 1952 to immigrant parents from China, Amy Tan moved many times and grew up in various places in California and lived for a brief period in Switzerland. Since 1985, Amy Tan has devoted herself to writing fiction infused with autobiographical notes from her personal life. Translated in 35 languages, her works include non-fiction, children’s books and 6 novels, which have been New York Times best sellers.
